When Thomas emailed me and said he had found me online and wanted me to shoot the proposal to his girlfriend Jessica in the middle of one of the busiest intersections in Omaha, I was super excited, and then immediately nervous. Hiding out, trying to get the perfect shot without ruining the moment, trying to avoid shooting with a ton of cars in the background, and not getting blocked by a random pedestrian. So many variables!
Just for fun, I'd thought I'd include some of the behind the scenes diagrams I sent Thomas to make sure we captured it just right. :) All was going according to plan, until Jessica decided she did not want to cross the street the way Thomas was leading her. No J walking for Jessica! But despite a firm finger point and Jessica starting to walk away, Thomas caught her, pulled her back into the street and got down on one knee right in the middle of the street as planned.
It was SUCH a cool moment. Jessica was so surprised and literally everyone stopped and watched them, and once she said yes, tons of strangers started yelling congrats and everyone was honking their horns. We dodged in an alley to get a few shots of the two of them, and then I snuck to Blue Sushi. Thomas had flown in a ton of Jessica's friends and family and surprised her again with an engagement party at Blue. Couldn't have been a more perfect proposal and I feel so honored that I got to be part of it!
Big thank you to Thomas's brother Nate for all his help coordinating and for my husband Kevin for getting some great photos of Jessica's reaction! Your vision totally came together Thomas -- happy engagement to you and Jessica!
